Samsung Galaxy A55 review: The new mid-range king?

With its A series, Samsung has repeatedly proven that good smartphones don’t have to be expensive. The mid-range models offer enough performance for the average consumer. Will the Korean tech company launch another value-for-money hit this year?

Samsung Galaxy A55 Test: Endurance  Samsung Galaxy A55 Battery

The battery life of the Samsung A series has always been quite good. This is largely due to the fact that this phone does not use a high-performance processor. Good performance usually also ensures that the Samsung  smartphone Battery

does not drain excessively. Nevertheless, the performance of the Samsung Galaxy A55 does deserve the highest praise. After all, with general use, two days of Samsung  smartphone Battery

life should be possible. However, if you use the device more frequently, the battery will of course be depleted faster. Then you will have to use a charging cable to charge the smartphone. However, you will not get record-breaking charging performance.

The maximum power can reach 25 watts. I personally think this is outdated. After all, some mid-range models of competitors score well in this regard and charge with significantly higher power. Given the relatively low power, you also have to accept the corresponding charging time. Fully  Samsung Galaxy A55 Battery

Charging in just under 90 minutesConclusion

With the Samsung Galaxy A55, the Korean technology expert has managed to create a truly outstanding mid-range smartphone.

If you buy a mid-range smartphone, you shouldn’t expect miracles from the camera. This has always been the case. That’s why the Galaxy A55 can’t keep up with the flagships in this segment. But whether you find the camera of a smartphone satisfactory or very good depends on your expectations of it. Samsung Galaxy A55 Test: Technology

For the first time, Samsung uses its own Exynos processor in its latest A-series model. More precisely, the Exynos 1480 is the heart of this phone. It is supported by 8 GB of RAM. In everyday applications, such as surfing the Internet, watching YouTube videos and playing a game or two, I had no problems with the performance of this phone.

Of course, operating systems are always a matter of personal preference in terms of look and feel. Personally, I find One UI a little too cluttered in places. This doesn’t necessarily mean the looks. After all, Samsung scores here with a very good overview. On the contrary, I think there’s too much bloatware used here.

However, if this bothers you, you can just uninstall it. Samsung is surprisingly generous when it comes to providing future updates. According to the Korean tech company, the A55 will provide updates for a full five years. This means that the A55 is not in danger of being sent to the technological grave anytime soon.

This is first and foremost due to its modern design and high-quality build quality. But I was also really pleasantly surprised by the device’s performance. If you’re not a heavy user, you’ll probably only push the A55 to its limits in special situations. Its   Samsung Galaxy A55 Batterylife is also excellent.

Motorola Edge 50 Ultra review: Motorola’s wooden wonder?

Motorola has released its flagship smartphone, the Edge 50 Ultra, in the Indian market after a two-year hiatus. It is the successor to the Edge 30 Ultra that was launched in 2022. The latest offering comes with all the powerful features like the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, 100x AI SuperZoom, and more. Powerful Performance

Motorola Edge 50 Ultra Battery

Long Life, Clean Software Experience

However, these enhancements do come with a high price tag of Rs 54,999, putting the device in direct competition with the recently launched Honor 200 Pro and other big names like the OnePlus 12 and iQOO 12. So, the question is, is the Edge 50 Ultra worth the money? Should you buy it? Let’s find out in our review. Motorola Edge 50 Ultra Review: Design and Build

The Edge 50 Ultra comes with a wood finish that’s reminiscent of the iconic Moto X. It also comes in Peach Fuzz and Forest Grey with faux leather on the back, but the Nordic Wood color we reviewed is our favorite. The light Nordic Wood finish looks stylish and feels comfortable to hold.

Motorola Edge 50 Ultra review: Display and audio

The Edge 50 Ultra has a 6.7-inch curved pOLED display, which I’m not too fond of, but it does give the device a premium feel. Motorola remains one of the few phone manufacturers to offer a 144Hz refresh rate, which makes scrolling on the Edge 50 Ultra an absolute treat. Motorola Edge 50 Ultra review: Performance and software

The Edge 50 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor. This year, it has become a popular choice for smartphone brands. We’ve seen it on multiple devices, such as the recently launched Honor 200 Pro and some more affordable phones like the Poco F6, Realme GT 6, and Xiaomi 14 Civi. However, at this price point, Motorola’s latest will also compete with stronger rivals like the OnePlus 12 and iQOO 12. Motorola Edge 50 Ultra review: Cameras

The Edge 50 Ultra features a triple camera setup on the back. Also, like its Edge 50 Pro sibling, the Edge 50 Ultra also comes with Pantone color validation. It also comes with a Time of Flight (ToF) sensor, LED flash, and autofocus. But how does all this translate into real-world experience? Motorola Edge 50 Ultra review:

Motorola Edge 50 Ultra battery life and charging

The Edge 50 Ultra comes with a 4500mAh Motorola Edge 50 Ultra battery

, which may not sound impressive, but it can easily last a day on a single charge. In our PCMark battery test, it lasted 14 hours and 14 minutes. That’s not bad. To give you some context, we also ran the same test on the recently launched Honor 200 Pro

Honor 200 Pro Battery

It only lasted 10 hours and 2 minutes. The iQOO 12, which launched in December last year, lasted nearly 18 hoursMotorola Edge 50 Ultra Review: Conclusion

The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra is a strong contender in the premium smartphone space, combining design, performance, and features. Its standout features include a unique faux wood finish, a vivid and smooth display, powerful performance, impressive sound quality, and amazing Motorola Edge 50 Ultra batterylife.

However, potential buyers should carefully weigh its advantages against the competition before making a decision.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 review: A slight improvement

Foldable phone design hasn’t changed much this year, but that’s by no means a bad thing. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is an all-around stunning smartphone that’s still a pleasure to use, and if there’s any indication of where mainstream smartphones are headed from here, this is it.

Moreover, as more and more rivals emerge to challenge Samsung’s dominance of the foldable phone market, it seems wise for the company to choose to improve the formula rather than completely change it.vIn terms of quality, we’re once again looking at a pair of excellent screens. They each have two display modes to choose from – Vivid and Natural – with the former being the default setting. In this mode, the Z Fold 5’s internal screen averaged a Delta E (color variation) score of 3.36, hitting 100% of the sRGB color gamut, and total volume of 151%. In Natural mode, however, colors are more subdued, with a Delta E result of 1.81 and an sRGB color gamut score of 94.2% and 96.5% coverage. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 review: Performance and

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 battery Lifespan As with the Galaxy S23, processing tasks are now handled by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, with a special ‘for Galaxy’ badge. This means you get a slight boost in clock speeds compared to the regular versions found in rival flagships, although we found this only made a minor difference in our benchmarks. You should notice a bigger change in thermal efficiency, with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5’s vapor chamber being 38% larger than the previous generation. Battery capacity is still small at 4,400mAh, which is a bit of a shame considering both the Honor Magic Vs and Google Pixel Fold use larger batteries, but we found it hardly mattered as the Z Fold 5 eclipsed the others.

In our looped video test, with screen brightness set to 170cd/m2 and all data connections turned off, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 lasted 23 hours 49 minutes with the inner screen on.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 batteryThat’s nearly five and a half hours more than last year and nearly ten hours more than the Honor Magic Vs.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Battery Test

Various Samsung Galaxy S5 battery tests have shown that the Samsung Galaxy S5 lasts longer than its competitors, withsmartphone batterylife being an important but difficult aspect of modern smartphones, especially for devices with powerful processors and power-hungry screens. . Samsung Galaxy S5

It may not have the biggest

Galaxy S5 battery on the market, but it has achieved impressive scores in a series of battery tests published online.

The first round of tests, conducted by smartphone.bg, recorded the time each device took to perform various tasks, including talk time, internet browsing, and playing 3D games. The Galaxy S5 consistently came out on top in the results when compared to the iPhone 5S, LG G2, Galaxy Note 3, Xperia Z1, and Nexus 5.

All of the results below are in minutes (click to enlarge). The second set of results, from Korean site Playwares, compares the Galaxy S5’s battery consumption at maximum screen brightness levels. The first set of results shows the maximum brightness reached by each phone in nits, a unit of visible light intensity. The results were nearly identical across all phone models. The second test compared each device’s battery life at 230 nits with a white screen and WiFi on and off. It’s worth noting that the first set of tests was conducted with the display brightness reduced to just 120 nits. The Galaxy S5 outperformed many smartphones with larger  Samsung Galaxy S5 martphone battery. When it came to gaming, the Samsung chip outlasted all of its competitors by a wide margin, and had an impressive 1,500 minutes of talk time. Only the LG G2 and Galaxy Note 3 were able to match that number. In the display tests, the Galaxy S5 was only beaten by devices with higher-capacity batteries or lower-resolution screens (which use fewer pixels to power), another impressive performance from Samsung’s latest flagship. Samsung’s smartphone success in these tests is largely due to its energy-efficient components. Samsung’s AMOLED displays are quite battery-efficient compared to LCDs, and Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 801 chip also does a good job of balancing power consumption. The Samsung smartphone Galaxy S5 also has an ultra power saving mode that can provide up to 24 hours of Samsung smartphone battery life with just 10% of the battery.Galaxy S5 battery life certainly won’t be an issue for the Galaxy S5. Motorola Razr 50 review

The Motorola Razr 50 is a huge success, fixing almost all of the issues with the first affordable foldable Motorola Razr 50 phone while matching the premium Razr 50 Ultra in key ways. It’s not a perfect foldable phone, but it ticks a lot of boxes for £799/$799.

Not only does it offer a huge upgrade to the cover display, but users can also enjoy improved camera technology, new AI smarts and improved performance while still keeping it more affordable.

The fact that it outperforms the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 in key ways and is a more affordable alternative to Samsung’s premium clamshell foldable phone makes it particularly interesting. Design

Larger 3.6-inch cover screen

IPX8 water resistance

Stylish colour options

Last year’s Motorola Razr 40 was the first attempt at making a more affordable clamshell foldable phone, and it worked well, but as we discussed in our review at the time, the small cover screen was just too limited in what it could do compared to almost every other foldable phone on the market.

With the Razr 40, we had a number of complaints about its overall build quality compared to the flagship 40 Ultra, with our reviewer noting that the Fold’s screen actually squeaks when unfolded.

That’s not the case with the new model, however, which feels just as solid and premium as the Ultra model and features a redesigned hinge mechanism, though it still doesn’t feel as sturdy as the Z Flip 6 and its rock-solid construction. The Razr 50 has the same levels of protection as the higher-end Razr 50 Ultra, including covered screen protection in the form of Corning’s premium Gorilla Glass Victus, and IPX8 water resistance, meaning it can survive being submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes without breaking a sweat.

While this means the Ultra model suffers from reduced dust resistance, the regular Razr 40 didn’t offer any official IP rating, so improved dust resistance is a welcome addition here — especially in the more affordable realm of foldable phones, which are prone to drops from the elements. Take a look at the Nubia Flip 5G and you’ll see what I mean. It’s worth noting that it uses an LTPO panel that can downclock to 1Hz to saveMotorola Razr 50 phone battery life, a feature not available on many similarly priced candy-bar phones, let alone foldable phones.

The good news is that the redesigned hinge mechanism has managed to significantly reduce the crease on the foldable screen. Sure, it’s still there if you look at it from the side, but from the front, you won’t notice anything – and the dent is shallower than on products like Samsung, so you won’t notice much when you run your finger across it. Its main camera is the same as the one in the high-end Razr 50 Ultra. This means that, like the high-end model, the Razr 50 can take some very impressive photos. Photos taken in daylight are vivid and detailed, and while some colors (especially greens and blues) have a slightly unnatural tint, it does make the photos taken very eye-catching. The 4200mAh

Motorola Razr 50 phone battery

(200mAh larger than the Razr 40 Ultra, by the way) plus the combination of the LTPO display and the power-efficient chipset make the Razr 50 easily last a full day, especially with the more convenient cover display, which means you don’t always have to use the more power-hungry 6.9-inch panel.

While 30W charging may not sound all that impressive, especially when premium foldables like the OnePlus Open offer 67W fast charging, don’t let that fool you; using the 33W charger included in the box, you’ll see 50% charge in 25 minutes, and a full charge takes less than an hour.

There’s also 15W wireless charging – a surprise given the foldable’s lower price, but a welcome one nonetheless

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6: A cautious but interesting update

We talked about this external screen, now let’s focus on the main screen of the Flip6, which logically will be the one you will pay the most attention to. Do not expect any improvements compared to its predecessor, since we find the same Dynamic AMOLED 2X FHD+ screen with 2,640 x 1,080 pixels. Also note that the screen switches to an adaptive LTPO refresh rate that switches from 1Hz to 120Hz depending on the content displayed on the screen, thus optimizing power consumption.

The only noticeable improvement is the increase in brightness, which increases the panel from 1,750 nits to 2,600 nits. If there is no noticeable difference indoors, Smartphone Battery Samsungthen we mainly notice this change outdoors, in sunny weather. The screen is therefore more noticeable. The fold located in the center of the screen may seem annoying, but our eyes quickly get used to it and the content displayed does not change due to the fold.

This folding screen actually allows for a lot of things. If you have never used a folding phone in the past, know that it completely changes the way you use your smartphone. The phone can be used in folded mode and placed on a table, for example, for meetings, watching videos on half the screen, or even taking your own photos, without having to worry about having to stabilize the phone.

With this Flip6, Samsung begins the transition to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, a chip designed to improve the performance of the device, the most efficient chip on an Android smartphone in 2024. The Flip6 is no exception. The device is particularly responsive and does not show any slowdowns, either in apps or in games, as shown below in the EA Sports FC Mobile Football game. The game runs smoothly in all cases, always showing a refresh rate of 60FPS with the graphics maxed out. In Asphal Legends Unite, the FPS is again stable at around 60, but the phone heats up a lot.

On Geekbench 6, which pushes the smartphone to its limits (causing it to heat up extremely), the CPU shows a single-core performance of 1,490 and a multi-core performance of 6,720. The first is clearly inferior to the latest Galaxy S and only slightly better than the Poco F5. On the other hand, in terms of multi-core, the Z Flip 6 performs almost as well as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. For its part, the GPU shows an excellent score of 11,413, far ahead of its predecessor, the Z Fold 5 and its “smaller” 9,192. This performance is probably made possible by the Flip 6’s new vapor chamber, an innovation that allows for better heat dissipation. Finally, let’s talk about the sensitive subject of photos.

For its part, the front camera is the same as last year. Therefore, we find that the 10MP lens does not take the most wonderful photos. However, this is almost anecdotal, because with its folding smartphone and mini rear screen, it is possible to take selfies while visualizing our poses using this lens, so it is possible to take better quality photos.Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Battery

Finally, how can we talk about Samsung’s new smartphones without mentioning Android 14 and Galaxy AI. The Korean smartphone runs excellently under the Google operating system, and Samsung’s own artificial intelligence is frankly very practical, although very “gadget”. You can draw elements on photos, generate backgrounds according to the user’s needs, notes summary, real-time call translation… Galaxy AI is still in its infancy and we will continue to explore its real usefulness in daily work. Basics.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus review: Middle child syndrome

Samsung’s Galaxy S Plus series has always been somewhere between the refined looks of the entry-level models and the comprehensiveness of the Ultra series. The Galaxy S24 Plus shows signs that this middle ground is trying to develop on its own.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus review: design and key features

This year’s Galaxy S24 models have become more square and angular. Like the regular S24, the Galaxy S24 Plus also means the elimination of any curves on the side frames.

The result is that the Galaxy S24 Plus looks and feels very similar to the iPhone. Of course, the irony is that Apple has begun adding curves to its smartphones in the iPhone 15 series. Regardless, the design of the Galaxy S24 Plus is pleasing, albeit derivative. Even the unique, non-functional camera module is much more bland than before.

As you’d expect, the Galaxy S24 Plus is a lot larger than the regular S24, but Samsung has done a good job of making the larger phone usable every day. The S24 Plus is 7.7mm thick and weighs right around 200g (196g to be exact), making it relatively easy to carry around despite its size. It’s also pretty rugged, with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and back, and an Armor Aluminum 2 frame. The Galaxy S24 Plus is IP68 rated, so it’s also water and dust resistant enough.

The Galaxy S24 Plus not only has a larger screen than its 6.2-inch little brother (it measures 6.7 inches, up from the S23 Plus’ 6.6 inches), but it’s finally squeezed in a decent number of pixels. The previous Plus model had an FHD+ display, much like the non-Plus model, which meant the resolution wasn’t too crisp. In the Galaxy S24 Plus, you get a full QHD+, or 1,440 x 3120 resolution, much like the Galaxy S24 Ultra. You need to activate this feature in the Settings menu, which I of course did immediately, but once it was activated, the Galaxy S24 Plus finally felt like it could compete with the likes of the Pixel 8 Pro and OnePlus 12.

It’s an LTPO panel that can be adjusted between 1 and 120Hz, making it more efficient than ever. That’s a good thing, too, because with HDR, peak brightness is boosted to 2,600cd/m2. With auto-brightness turned off, I recorded a maximum brightness of 718cd/m2, which is pretty good. Switching to Natural screen mode, color accuracy was respectable without being overly harsh. I recorded 99% sRGB color gamut coverage and an average Delta E of 1.65. Unsurprisingly, all of these numbers are very similar to the Galaxy S24. Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus review: performance and

Galaxy S24 Plus battery

life

Unfortunately, Samsung has taken a step back a bit when it comes to processors in the Galaxy S24 series. Last year, Samsung went all-in on Qualcomm solutions, and this year, the global model of the Galaxy S24 Plus (like the Galaxy S24) runs the company’s custom Exynos 2400 chip.

All the usual benchmarks show it has a broad flagship experience, but it’s not as fast as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 that ships with the US model. Considering the inclusion of a QHD+ display, it offers the slowest GPU performance of the series, only slightly ahead of the Galaxy S23 Plus in our usual testing. However, when it comes to sustained gaming performance, the Galaxy S24 Plus performs even worse than the Galaxy S24. Using the 3D Mark Solar Bay stress test, which runs a 20-minute graphics-intensive test that simulates a high-end gaming session, the Galaxy S24 Plus scored a pretty terrible 52.5% (10% worse than the S24), suggesting that the phone slows down significantly under load. I would have liked the Galaxy S24 Plus’s heat sink to provide additional surface area, but the Exynos 2400 seems to be struggling to run this super-sharp QHD+ display efficiently. No wonder Samsung uses FHD+ by default.

It may not be great for long gaming sessions, but the Galaxy S24 runs pretty efficiently when the load is light. While the 4,900mAh Galaxy S24 battery

is relatively small for a large-screen phone, it is larger than the 4,700mAh

 Galaxy S23 Plus battery

that came before it.

Despite its larger, brighter, and sharper display, the Galaxy S24 Plus lasted 28 hours and 13 minutes in our loop Galaxy S24 Plus battery

test. That’s about an hour and 40 minutes longer than the Galaxy S23 Plus and nearly nine hours longer than the Pixel 8 Pro, but also an hour and a half shorter than the OnePlus 12 and about six hours shorter than the Galaxy S24 Ultra. In general use, I was able to get about five hours of screen time all day and still have about 45% charge left. Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus review: Software

Like the rest of the Galaxy S24 series, the Plus model runs Android 14 with One UI 6.1. There’s a lot to love about Samsung’s custom UI. For me, it’s a little busy, with too much bloatware, and the setup process requires too much fiddling if you’re fully committed to the Google ecosystem.

None of this is insurmountable, but I found the need to manually switch to gesture-based controls and install things like Google Wallet a little annoying. The same goes for Samsung’s app tray layout, which arranges things in an atypical way. Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus review: Conclusion

Samsung has built another strong full-size flagship phone in the Galaxy S24 Plus, and it’s taken a step forward with a more competitive display and a larger Galaxy S24 Plus battery

Its Galaxy AI features range from cool gimmicks to downright useful tools.

You also get a larger 4,900mAhGalaxy S24 Plus batterywith support for 45W wired charging. However, the 50MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and 10MP 3x zoom camera system remain the same as its smaller sibling.

The best Samsung smartphones to buy in 2024

Which Samsung smartphone is best for me? This is definitely not an easy question to answer,

Best Foldable Phone: Galaxy Z Fold 6

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 held vertically, seen from the back, half open. Similar to the S24 Ultra, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 hasn’t changed much from previous generations. Still, the Fold 6 is one of the most reliable and durable foldable phones on the market, with premium features that come at a premium price.

It has a bright, fast 7.6-inch AMOLED display, top-notch Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC performance, an excellent camera, long

Galaxy Z Fold 6 battery

life, and the best update support among foldable phones. However, it gets hot when performing demanding tasks, doesn’t charge particularly quickly, and the S Pen still requires a special case. Despite these shortcomings, the Fold 6 is still a technological masterpiece. In 2024, the mid-range Galaxy A series gets a slight upgrade and a more premium look. The new Galaxy A35 and A55 share the same overall design as the Galaxy S series, but feature the same large 6.6-inch OLED display. They differ mainly in the faster processor and the metal frame used on the more expensive models.

The new Galaxy A35 does away with the V-shaped notch in favor of a punch-hole design for the selfie camera, making it indistinguishable from the more expensive models. Performance has also been improved by inheriting the powerful Exynos 1380 chip used on the Galaxy A54, which should provide adequate performance for everyday tasks and most games.

If you value photography, fast charging, or gaming performance more, there are better options at this price point. However, the Galaxy A35 strikes a good balance between performance and features and has a best-in-class software update policy.Samsung Galaxy A35 battery

From a technical perspective, the Fold is still the most impressive. Samsung has packed every possible feature into it, including S-Pen support and a camera hidden in the display. However, the Galaxy Z Flip is even more impressive, being very compact when folded, and should also be clearly ahead of the Fold in terms of buyers. Visually, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a noticeably larger cover display, which is impressive. In addition, both models can now be folded completely flat.

In addition to the current models launched in 2024, you can also find predecessors in the table. Since the prices of these older devices have dropped rapidly since their launch, they may be a good opportunity for you to experience the foldable device game.
