It runs an older version of Android, and Huawei’s Emotion interface makes navigating the tablet often sluggish and irritating.

It’s 7.18mm thick, which is about the same as the iPad mini, though it’s narrower and shorter with a 7-inch display instead of an 8-inch one. I found I could easily slide it into an inside jacket pocket, but it’s awkward to carry in a jeans pocket—something to keep in mind if you’re hoping to use it as an everyday phone. You need a separate cable – a micro-USB to micro-USB cable, which I’ve never seen before, so I doubt you have one lying around – which will, of course, shorten the tablet’s lifespan, but it’ll certainly come in handy if you really need your phone to keep going until you can find a plug.

Although Huawei claims the X1 is a tablet, its ability to make calls and send texts means you can use it as a primary phone. Whether you treat it as a phone or a tablet, the X1 is a nice device. Its screen is sharp and eye-catching, and the slim metal design is pleasing to the eye.

Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed review: Almost perfect, almost perfect

The Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed meets many of my criteria. It’s a lightweight, six-button mouse equipped with Razer Hyperspeed Wireless technology, designed specifically for gaming. It feels great in the hand, and I never accidentally pressed a button while clicking. It glides smoothly on the mousepad, but can slip if you press too hard.

While it’s nearly 30 grams heavier than my usual Logitech Superlight (88 grams with the Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed Mouse Battery), it doesn’t feel particularly heavy in the hand. In fact, for those who are undecided between a light and heavy mouse, the Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed features Razer Gen 2 switches, which we discussed in our Razer Basilisk review.

Combined with Razer’s software, which allows you to program additional buttons, it’s a good choice for those who prefer a simple yet advanced solution. However, it does have some drawbacks. The mouse is flatter than I’m used to, making it feel like I’m practically holding it with my fingertips. I know a single battery can last nearly 300 hours, but I grew up in the ’90s, when batteries were rare.
