Motorola Razr 50 review

The Motorola Razr 50 is a huge success, fixing almost all of the issues with the first affordable foldable Motorola Razr 50 phone while matching the premium Razr 50 Ultra in key ways. It’s not a perfect foldable phone, but it ticks a lot of boxes for £799/$799.

Not only does it offer a huge upgrade to the cover display, but users can also enjoy improved camera technology, new AI smarts and improved performance while still keeping it more affordable.

The fact that it outperforms the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 in key ways and is a more affordable alternative to Samsung’s premium clamshell foldable phone makes it particularly interesting. Design

Larger 3.6-inch cover screen

IPX8 water resistance

Stylish colour options

Last year’s Motorola Razr 40 was the first attempt at making a more affordable clamshell foldable phone, and it worked well, but as we discussed in our review at the time, the small cover screen was just too limited in what it could do compared to almost every other foldable phone on the market.

With the Razr 40, we had a number of complaints about its overall build quality compared to the flagship 40 Ultra, with our reviewer noting that the Fold’s screen actually squeaks when unfolded.

That’s not the case with the new model, however, which feels just as solid and premium as the Ultra model and features a redesigned hinge mechanism, though it still doesn’t feel as sturdy as the Z Flip 6 and its rock-solid construction. The Razr 50 has the same levels of protection as the higher-end Razr 50 Ultra, including covered screen protection in the form of Corning’s premium Gorilla Glass Victus, and IPX8 water resistance, meaning it can survive being submerged in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes without breaking a sweat.

While this means the Ultra model suffers from reduced dust resistance, the regular Razr 40 didn’t offer any official IP rating, so improved dust resistance is a welcome addition here — especially in the more affordable realm of foldable phones, which are prone to drops from the elements. Take a look at the Nubia Flip 5G and you’ll see what I mean. It’s worth noting that it uses an LTPO panel that can downclock to 1Hz to saveMotorola Razr 50 phone battery life, a feature not available on many similarly priced candy-bar phones, let alone foldable phones.

The good news is that the redesigned hinge mechanism has managed to significantly reduce the crease on the foldable screen. Sure, it’s still there if you look at it from the side, but from the front, you won’t notice anything – and the dent is shallower than on products like Samsung, so you won’t notice much when you run your finger across it. Its main camera is the same as the one in the high-end Razr 50 Ultra. This means that, like the high-end model, the Razr 50 can take some very impressive photos. Photos taken in daylight are vivid and detailed, and while some colors (especially greens and blues) have a slightly unnatural tint, it does make the photos taken very eye-catching. The 4200mAh

Motorola Razr 50 phone battery

(200mAh larger than the Razr 40 Ultra, by the way) plus the combination of the LTPO display and the power-efficient chipset make the Razr 50 easily last a full day, especially with the more convenient cover display, which means you don’t always have to use the more power-hungry 6.9-inch panel.

While 30W charging may not sound all that impressive, especially when premium foldables like the OnePlus Open offer 67W fast charging, don’t let that fool you; using the 33W charger included in the box, you’ll see 50% charge in 25 minutes, and a full charge takes less than an hour.

There’s also 15W wireless charging – a surprise given the foldable’s lower price, but a welcome one nonetheless

Like the previous generation, you also have the option to replace many parts, including theLenovo ThinkPad Z13 Gen 1 battery and rechargeable batteries. Since Lenovo ThinkPad Z13 Gen 1 laptop batteries lose capacity over time, they are often the first part that needs to be replaced. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6: A cautious but interesting update

We talked about this external screen, now let’s focus on the main screen of the Flip6, which logically will be the one you will pay the most attention to. Do not expect any improvements compared to its predecessor, since we find the same Dynamic AMOLED 2X FHD+ screen with 2,640 x 1,080 pixels. Also note that the screen switches to an adaptive LTPO refresh rate that switches from 1Hz to 120Hz depending on the content displayed on the screen, thus optimizing power consumption.

The only noticeable improvement is the increase in brightness, which increases the panel from 1,750 nits to 2,600 nits. If there is no noticeable difference indoors, Smartphone Battery Samsungthen we mainly notice this change outdoors, in sunny weather. The screen is therefore more noticeable. The fold located in the center of the screen may seem annoying, but our eyes quickly get used to it and the content displayed does not change due to the fold.

This folding screen actually allows for a lot of things. If you have never used a folding phone in the past, know that it completely changes the way you use your smartphone. The phone can be used in folded mode and placed on a table, for example, for meetings, watching videos on half the screen, or even taking your own photos, without having to worry about having to stabilize the phone.

With this Flip6, Samsung begins the transition to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, a chip designed to improve the performance of the device, the most efficient chip on an Android smartphone in 2024. The Flip6 is no exception. The device is particularly responsive and does not show any slowdowns, either in apps or in games, as shown below in the EA Sports FC Mobile Football game. The game runs smoothly in all cases, always showing a refresh rate of 60FPS with the graphics maxed out. In Asphal Legends Unite, the FPS is again stable at around 60, but the phone heats up a lot.

On Geekbench 6, which pushes the smartphone to its limits (causing it to heat up extremely), the CPU shows a single-core performance of 1,490 and a multi-core performance of 6,720. The first is clearly inferior to the latest Galaxy S and only slightly better than the Poco F5. On the other hand, in terms of multi-core, the Z Flip 6 performs almost as well as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. For its part, the GPU shows an excellent score of 11,413, far ahead of its predecessor, the Z Fold 5 and its “smaller” 9,192. This performance is probably made possible by the Flip 6’s new vapor chamber, an innovation that allows for better heat dissipation. Finally, let’s talk about the sensitive subject of photos.

For its part, the front camera is the same as last year. Therefore, we find that the 10MP lens does not take the most wonderful photos. However, this is almost anecdotal, because with its folding smartphone and mini rear screen, it is possible to take selfies while visualizing our poses using this lens, so it is possible to take better quality photos.Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Battery

Finally, how can we talk about Samsung’s new smartphones without mentioning Android 14 and Galaxy AI. The Korean smartphone runs excellently under the Google operating system, and Samsung’s own artificial intelligence is frankly very practical, although very “gadget”. You can draw elements on photos, generate backgrounds according to the user’s needs, notes summary, real-time call translation… Galaxy AI is still in its infancy and we will continue to explore its real usefulness in daily work. Basics.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold review – The focus is on the “experience”

In a town of thin and light notebooks, performance-focused laptops, and gamers with Manhattan-like desktop systems, Lenovo has taken a step in a direction that many dared not take. As the monotony of laptop system design reaches a saturation point, a change needs to happen. But how? Implanting chips into the human body with Elon Musk’s Neuralink so that we don’t need laptops anymore? Well, that’s a topic for the future, but what we have now is the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold, a laptop with a foldable screen. The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold itself has a leather finish, and when folded, this texture looks like a book-written diary. Now, folding is only half of the experience. The real thrill is opening it up. You put your finger in the gap, try to open it, and the laptop’s screen opens. You can actually feel the entire screen folded in front of you. While your eyes are admiring this sci-fi product in the real world, a hero is working behind the scenes to make it all possible, and that’s the hinge. The entire machine is military-grade certified and durable. As a high-end product, the ThinkPad X1 Fold comes with a dedicated customer service staff, and if you choose, you can also get more than 3 years of excellent warranty support.

Screen The highlight of the system is the folding screen, which is a 13.3-inch OLED panel that supports touch input. The 2K resolution display is very clear and the colors are very vivid. If we don’t talk about the folding aspect for the time being and only talk about the display, the color reproduction is very good, and the clearer resolution brings a good reading experience. The screen brightness is sufficient, and we set the brightness of the device to 60% when testing.

Originally, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold was planned to run on Windows 10X to achieve maximum efficiency of the folding screen. But in the end, the device now comes with regular Windows 10 Pro, which contains a lot of customization and adjustments from Lenovo. One of the notable features is the Lenovo Mode Switcher, which is automatically triggered when you fold the device. It allows you to use the entire display as one screen or split it into two screens and use them separately.

The stylus can also be used to draw and type instead of typing on the virtual keyboard on the screen. Lenovo has packed so many little features into the system that make the Windows experience on the ThinkPad X1 Fold a lot better. But there are some issues.

The screen orientation sometimes gets stuck in landscape or portrait mode, which requires manually switching (on/off) the orientation in the display settings. Also, the computer sometimes may not exit mini-computer mode after removing the keyboard. These are some software issues, and since the ThinkPad X1 Fold is the first of its kind, Lenovo says a fix will be available soon. Selective connectivity, no headphones required!

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold only comes with two USB Type-C ports. No Ethernet, no USB-A, no headphone jack, and no display output. The compact form factor and the inclusion of new display technology have resulted in the omission of quite a few space-consuming ports on the device. Disappointingly, USB-C audio is not currently supported. This means you can’t connect regular 3.5mm or USB-C headphones directly to the machine. The only way to connect headphones is through Bluetooth.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold BatteryLife

When we used the ThinkPad X1 Fold in Balanced mode on battery settings, the 50Whr battery lasted for about 4-5 hours. In Performance mode, the battery life dropped by about an hour, but the overall responsiveness of the system improved. You can also try to use it for a few more hours in Power Saving mode. We mainly used the ThinkPad X1 Fold in Balanced mode at about 60% brightness, which gave us an average of about 5 hours

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold Battery Life.

The 65W charging adapter takes about 90 minutes to charge the machine from 0% to 100%. You can also use the device while charging, but this will slow down the charging speed. The battery life feels short considering that it is an OLED display that is considered power-efficient.

Conclusion – Should you buy the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold?

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold Review – The Focus is on “Experience” – Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold Review 8

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold does not compete directly with other laptops on the market. It is a product that technology enthusiasts and professionals are most interested in, with unique technology that is essentially the first of its kind

Apple AirPods Pro 3 rumors: What we know so far and what we want to know next

When will it be available? : We expect the Apple AirPods Pro 3 to be available in late 2024 to fall 2025. This makes sense, as there was nearly 35 months between the release of the original AirPods Pro 1 and AirPods Pro 2. If the company stays on track, we could see the updated AirPods Pro 3 hit shelves in August 2025.

What’s New ? : According to trusted industry analyst Mark Gurman, the AirPods Pro 3 are expected to get an updated design and chip in 2025. The company also appears to be working on sound technology in the health tracking and hearing space. – Charging port C, Qi and MagSafe wireless charging, minimum IPX4 rating, wire loop, built-in speakers, and a host of premium Apple-specific features.

How much will it cost? Given that the AirPods Pro and AirPods Pro 2 cost $249, we expect the company’s next-generation earphones to maintain that price. This is possible, given the stiff competition from rivals like the Sony WF-1000XM5 and Bose QuietComfort. Great headphones. However, the price of the headphones when they launch is likely to be higher. Will Apple release AirPods Pro 3?

It is almost certain that AirPods Pro (3rd gen) will arrive. Apple’s wearables and home accessories category (including all AirPods) outsold the Mac and iPad categories in the second quarter of 2024. The company is expected to discontinue production of its most popular thin headphones.

What are the features and specs of the Apple AirPods Pro (3rd gen)?

Hold the right earbud of the Apple AirPods Pro (2nd gen) in one hand to reveal its stem.

The pressure-sensitive stem on the AirPods Pro 2 allows you to slide to adjust the volume.

The AirPods Pro 3 will likely share many of the same features as the AirPods Pro 2. Here are our conclusions based on rumors and industry design trends.

Like the AirPods Pro 1 and AirPods Pro 2, the AirPods Pro 3 will almost certainly feature a sealed design and come with replaceable ear tips. We also expect the earphones to use the same stem design with pressure sensors that Apple uses for control. Reading and conversation should also be included. Apple has only released the earphones in white, and we expect the AirPods Pro 3 to remain in this color as well.

The AirPods Pro 3 will likely have an IPX4 or higher water resistance rating. The first two generations of AirPods Pro both had an IPX4 rating and could withstand splashes from any direction. In addition, Apple updated the AirPods Pro 2 earphones and charging case in September 2023 with an IP54 water and dust resistance rating. There is no reason for Apple to miss this certification for the AirPods Pro 3.

The upcoming AirPods Pro charging case can be charged using USB-C.

Perhaps the most notable change we’ll see on the AirPods Pro 3 is the new battery for AirPods Pro 3 headphones.

The charging port on the charging case. This seems likely given that Apple upgraded the AirPods Pro (2nd Gen) charging case on September 22, 2023, adding a USB-C port. Trusted industry analyst Mark Gurman also expects the AirPods Pro 3 to adopt USB-C. Loaded C in the Bloomberg leak. This makes sense, as the EU announced that companies must use a common charging port standard (USB-C) for affected devices by December 28, 2024. Either way, the case should work with both Qi and MagSafe. Loaded accessories.

Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x Gen 9 review: A quiet and powerful laptop with Snapdragon X Elite

Arm-based Windows laptops equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite/Plus have begun to appear as Microsoft’s main AI PC “Copilot+ PC”.

“Copilot+PC=Arm” is not the case. Models equipped with x86/x64 Intel/AMD processors are expected to appear in the future, but one of the requirements is “40TOPS or above NPU (neural processing unit, AI processing) As a result, Qualcomm is the only choice at launch.

Arm-based Windows PCs have been launched in small batches for a while, but now they are finally coming to the fore, with performance improvements similar to those when Macs transitioned to the Arm architecture a few years ago. Many people may be worried about compatibility.

This time, we borrowed the first Copilot+ computer from Lenovo Japan, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x Gen 9, and tried it out. Stylish and thin laptop with high entertainment performance

Yoga used to be the name of a two-in-one computer with a 360-degree rotating display, but in recent years it has been redefined as a high-end brand for consumer products, and this machine also has a typical hinge shape. A style of laptop. The main body measures about 325 x 225.15 x 12.9 mm (the thinnest part) and weighs about 1.28 kg. The color is cosmic blue. Although it is thin, it is tough enough to meet MIL standard. It also comes with four speakers that support Dolby Atmos, providing an excellent experience for entertainment purposes such as watching videos, which is a typical feature of premium PCs for personal use. In addition, it is equipped with four noise-canceling microphones, and the webcam can improve image quality through Windows Studio Effects, one of the AI features of Copilot+ PC, and is also good at video calls.

The only interface is USB Type-C, two on the left and one on the right. In addition to the USB Type-C terminal on the right, there is a privacy shutter switch for turning off the camera and a power button. Charging is also done via USB Type-C, and a 65W USB PD charger is included. The Yoga Slim 7x Gen 9 is not fanless, but in practice, even if you only notice its presence under high loads such as benchmarks, the fan will not run in many cases, so its excellent quietness is indeed attractive. In addition, if you think back to when Apple Silicon was launched, I think many people expected that if Windows also used Arm, theYoga Slim 7x Gen 9  battery life would be significantly better.

To test the continuous runtime of video playback, I played a video on YouTube I played a full HD video on the 100% to 3% shutdown and found that the Yoga Slim 7x Gen 9 battery lasted about 13 hours and 30 minutes (Google Chrome, screen brightness 50%. , speaker volume 10%, Wi-Fi connected). Although this is an excellent record, this model is actually equipped with a large 70Wh battery, so if you consider fuel efficiency rather than range, the power saving performance is still significantly different compared to Intel/AMD models. I can’t say for sure. If you are currently choosing a Copilot+ PC, the Yoga Slim 7x Gen 9 itself is a strong candidate. It has a stylish design, a high-quality organic EL display, four speakers, and the high processing performance of Snapdragon.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus review: Middle child syndrome

Samsung’s Galaxy S Plus series has always been somewhere between the refined looks of the entry-level models and the comprehensiveness of the Ultra series. The Galaxy S24 Plus shows signs that this middle ground is trying to develop on its own.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus review: design and key features

This year’s Galaxy S24 models have become more square and angular. Like the regular S24, the Galaxy S24 Plus also means the elimination of any curves on the side frames.

The result is that the Galaxy S24 Plus looks and feels very similar to the iPhone. Of course, the irony is that Apple has begun adding curves to its smartphones in the iPhone 15 series. Regardless, the design of the Galaxy S24 Plus is pleasing, albeit derivative. Even the unique, non-functional camera module is much more bland than before.

As you’d expect, the Galaxy S24 Plus is a lot larger than the regular S24, but Samsung has done a good job of making the larger phone usable every day. The S24 Plus is 7.7mm thick and weighs right around 200g (196g to be exact), making it relatively easy to carry around despite its size. It’s also pretty rugged, with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and back, and an Armor Aluminum 2 frame. The Galaxy S24 Plus is IP68 rated, so it’s also water and dust resistant enough.

The Galaxy S24 Plus not only has a larger screen than its 6.2-inch little brother (it measures 6.7 inches, up from the S23 Plus’ 6.6 inches), but it’s finally squeezed in a decent number of pixels. The previous Plus model had an FHD+ display, much like the non-Plus model, which meant the resolution wasn’t too crisp. In the Galaxy S24 Plus, you get a full QHD+, or 1,440 x 3120 resolution, much like the Galaxy S24 Ultra. You need to activate this feature in the Settings menu, which I of course did immediately, but once it was activated, the Galaxy S24 Plus finally felt like it could compete with the likes of the Pixel 8 Pro and OnePlus 12.

It’s an LTPO panel that can be adjusted between 1 and 120Hz, making it more efficient than ever. That’s a good thing, too, because with HDR, peak brightness is boosted to 2,600cd/m2. With auto-brightness turned off, I recorded a maximum brightness of 718cd/m2, which is pretty good. Switching to Natural screen mode, color accuracy was respectable without being overly harsh. I recorded 99% sRGB color gamut coverage and an average Delta E of 1.65. Unsurprisingly, all of these numbers are very similar to the Galaxy S24. Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus review: performance and

life

Unfortunately, Samsung has taken a step back a bit when it comes to processors in the Galaxy S24 series. Last year, Samsung went all-in on Qualcomm solutions, and this year, the global model of the Galaxy S24 Plus (like the Galaxy S24) runs the company’s custom Exynos 2400 chip.

All the usual benchmarks show it has a broad flagship experience, but it’s not as fast as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 that ships with the US model. Considering the inclusion of a QHD+ display, it offers the slowest GPU performance of the series, only slightly ahead of the Galaxy S23 Plus in our usual testing. However, when it comes to sustained gaming performance, the Galaxy S24 Plus performs even worse than the Galaxy S24. Using the 3D Mark Solar Bay stress test, which runs a 20-minute graphics-intensive test that simulates a high-end gaming session, the Galaxy S24 Plus scored a pretty terrible 52.5% (10% worse than the S24), suggesting that the phone slows down significantly under load. I would have liked the Galaxy S24 Plus’s heat sink to provide additional surface area, but the Exynos 2400 seems to be struggling to run this super-sharp QHD+ display efficiently. No wonder Samsung uses FHD+ by default.

It may not be great for long gaming sessions, but the Galaxy S24 runs pretty efficiently when the load is light. While the 4,900mAh Galaxy S24 battery

is relatively small for a large-screen phone, it is larger than the 4,700mAh

 Galaxy S23 Plus battery

that came before it.

Despite its larger, brighter, and sharper display, the Galaxy S24 Plus lasted 28 hours and 13 minutes in our loop Galaxy S24 Plus battery

test. That’s about an hour and 40 minutes longer than the Galaxy S23 Plus and nearly nine hours longer than the Pixel 8 Pro, but also an hour and a half shorter than the OnePlus 12 and about six hours shorter than the Galaxy S24 Ultra. In general use, I was able to get about five hours of screen time all day and still have about 45% charge left. Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus review: Software

Like the rest of the Galaxy S24 series, the Plus model runs Android 14 with One UI 6.1. There’s a lot to love about Samsung’s custom UI. For me, it’s a little busy, with too much bloatware, and the setup process requires too much fiddling if you’re fully committed to the Google ecosystem.

None of this is insurmountable, but I found the need to manually switch to gesture-based controls and install things like Google Wallet a little annoying. The same goes for Samsung’s app tray layout, which arranges things in an atypical way. Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus review: Conclusion

Samsung has built another strong full-size flagship phone in the Galaxy S24 Plus, and it’s taken a step forward with a more competitive display and a larger Galaxy S24 Plus battery

Its Galaxy AI features range from cool gimmicks to downright useful tools.

You also get a larger 4,900mAhGalaxy S24 Plus batterywith support for 45W wired charging. However, the 50MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and 10MP 3x zoom camera system remain the same as its smaller sibling.

Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra robot vacuum review

The Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra is a high-spec, feature-rich, premium robot and mop. It excels at the basics and can reliably clean both hard floors and carpets. The build quality is high and the app is intuitive. However, some of the fancy new features feel underdeveloped: the voice assistant was unreliable in my testing, and the telescopic side brush often failed to extend when needed. The small onboard dustbin and water tank mean it might not be the best choice for people with very large homes. But overall, it’s an impressive robot vacuum cleaner and a good choice for those looking for precise control.

Launched in July 2024, the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra is a high-spec, feature-rich robot vacuum cleaner and mop with an automatic emptying base. For this model, Roborock has tweaked its basic features to provide a more efficient and effective clean, and added fancier new extras. I tested it to see how it compares to the other best robot vacuum cleaners available today, and whether it’s good value for money.

Overall, I was impressed. In terms of cleaning, it does a very good job, with reliable suction that performed well when I tested different sizes of debris. I found mopping to be equally effective, with the extra side mop doing a good job of mopping to the edges of a room.

There are a number of different options that offer precision cleaning, and there are some useful features, such as the ability to sense carpets and increase suction accordingly, and the ability for the mop pad to be raised 2cm off the ground so the carpet doesn’t get wet if you choose to mop first. The rubber roller is very good at grabbing hair and pushing it straight into the dust cup before it has a chance to tangle, but the same can’t be said for the roller shaft.

Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Vacuum Cleaner Battery

The S8 MaxV Ultra is the first to feature Roborock’s smart voice assistant, and while being able to command a robot vacuum cleaner is appealing, in actual use I found it struggled to understand the most basic commands. The retractable side brush for reaching under furniture and into corners was equally unreliable. Like a shy turtle, it refused to come out, even when it was clearly needed. Roborock says this robot vacuum can intelligently identify 73 common household objects and avoid them. If you ask it to do so, it will even send you photos of those objects for your approval. In testing, results were mixed – it correctly identified some items, though not every time it encountered them, and it seemed to have a particular problem with socks.

Another use for the built-in camera is to let this robot vacuum do a “pet patrol” while you’re out. It’ll find your pet and take photos, and you can even talk to it directly via the two-way microphone.

Also in this range is the Roborock S8 Max Ultra (sans the “V”). It has slightly less suction power (8,000Pa compared to 10,000Pa for the MaxV), and lacks a smart voice assistant (although it still has third-party voice control) and a camera, which may appeal to those concerned about the privacy issues of these features. It’s also slightly cheaper.

For those who want a high-spec machine, I recommend the S8 MaxV Ultra robovac, which delivers precision cleaning and works equally well on hard floors and carpets. But if you don’t want all those extra features – especially considering some still need a little polish – there are cheaper, less fancy options that are perfect for general use. That’s the short version; read on for my full Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra review.
