You might want to sit back for this shocking, exciting news: The next generation of iPhone batteries may be better than the current ones.
At least that’s the opinion of prolific Apple forecaster Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo wrote on his Medium page that Apple is considering increasing the energy density of future iPhone batteries. Apple could increase the power of a battery of the same size as the current battery, or retain the currentiPhone 15 Pro Max battery life in a smaller unit to make room for other devices inside the phone. iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, and iPhone 16 Pro may be excluded
According to Kuo, the feature will only be available on the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The other three new iPhones may not get this change. Another detail revealed by Kuo is that Apple will apparently switch from aluminum iPhone 16 Pro Max batterycases to stainless steel ones. Kuo says this will sacrifice a little heat dissipation in exchange for greater corrosion resistance, which (at least in theory) will extend the life of the battery. This will also help make the battery easier to replace, thereby complying with various international regulations that require devices to be repairable.
None of this will be as exciting or as notable as the various software features Apple is sure to add to the next batch of iPhones, but making the battery more powerful is always a good thing.
