Huawei has unveiled the world’s first tri-fold smartphone, the Huawei Mate XT. After several leaks and teasers, we now have official information. The device was launched in Huawei’s home country of China. Note that the company calls it the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design.

This smartphone has two hinges and a display. The display measures 10.2 inches when fully unfolded and is an OLED panel with a 3K resolution. It has an aspect ratio of 16:11, in case you were wondering. Needless to say, this is much larger than the average foldable smartphone (which is around 8 inches at most). When fully unfolded, this phone will feature a 10.2-inch 3K LTPO OLED display
It’s worth noting that this is the LTPO display Huawei uses, which has 1,440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. In addition to this, it has a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. And yes, the display is protected by UTG (Ultra-Thin Glass).
Let’s jump straight to the display, as it’s certainly the main attraction. The phone itself is made of metal and leatherette. There’s leatherette on the back of each display section, so basically the entire back of the phone is leatherette. We still don’t know what SoC is used here, but if we had to guess, we’d say it’s the Kirin 9010, the same processor used in the latest Pura 70 smartphone. The phone comes with 16GB RAM and offers 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage options. The specs revealed yesterday were far from the same. Instead of an 8,000mAh+ battery, the phone comes with a 5,600mAh

The device does support 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Apart from that, it also supports 7.5W reverse wireless charging, and the charger seems to be included in the package. There are three cameras on the back, and the main camera even offers a variable aperture
The phone has three cameras on the back. The 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.4-f/4.0 aperture, OIS) is backed by a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera (f/2.2 aperture). There is also a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (f/3.4 aperture, OIS, 5.5x optical zoom). On the front, you will find an 8-megapixel camera (f/2.2 aperture)
This smartphone comes pre-installed with HarmonyOS 4.2. The phone supports Bluetooth 5.2 and comes with stereo speakers. It comes in red and black colors, both with gold accents. This means that the colors leaked a few days ago were also mostly wrong.

The Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design measures 156.7 x 219 x 4.75 mm when fully unfolded. When using only one display, the dimensions are 156.7 x 73.5 x 12.8 mm. When using both displays, the phone measures 156.7 x 143 x 4.75-7.45 mm. The device weighs 298 grams
