The iPhone 16 Pro has a bigger display and the Max’s 5x quad-prism zoom, but without the price hike. Add in promising Apple Intelligence features, smarter Siri, and longeriPhone 16 Pro battery life, and this is a compelling flagship phone. I just wish charging speeds were improved and that Visual Intelligence and ChatGPT didn’t arrive later. But I tell you, the iPhone 16 Pro can’t be ignored. As you can see in my iPhone 16 Pro review, this is one of the best phones you can buy for the price-performance ratio, and the best iPhone for heavy users on a budget — even if Apple Intelligence hasn’t yet introduced truly amazing features. Compared to the regular iPhone 16, the colors of the iPhone 16 Pro aren’t very vibrant. There’s white titanium, black titanium, natural titanium, and a new desert titanium, which is like a muted rose gold. I prefer the desert hue because it looks “new.” Don’t expect too much new from the iPhone 16’s display. Aside from the size increase to 6.3 inches, the only real news about this OLED screen is that it can be dimmed. Minimum brightness is now just 1 nit (down from 2 nits on the iPhone 15 Pro). Apple added a new button to the iPhone 16 Pro, but it’s not strictly a button. The camera control is a recessed capacitive switch that provides tactile feedback. Press once to go directly to the camera, and press again to take a photo. It’s simple and works well in both landscape and portrait modes. iPhone 16 Pro Smartphone Battery Charging speeds are the same as before, at 20W, so charging to 56% in 30 minutes isn’t surprising. The Google Pixel 9 Pro charged worse with a 45W charger, at 49%, but the S24 Ultra charged to 71% in the same time.
Despite reports that the iPhone 16 Pro supports 45W charging, we didn’t notice any difference in our testing. The good news is that MagSafe wireless charging jumps from 30W to 15W if you use a 25W adapter. I also like the improved
life, convenient camera controls, and compelling video audio mixing features. Apple Intelligence features like writing tools, the new Siri, and cleanup are promising, but some of the more exciting features like ChatGPT integration, Image Playground, and Google Lens-like Visual Intelligence will come later.
